Dragon Fans Can Utilize Shuttle Service To Miami Game

Arrangements have been made for a shuttle service for Saturday’s game between the Carroll Dragons and the Miami-Northwestern Bulls. Five shuttle buses will run between the Mockingbird Lane and Central Expressway DART light rail station parking lot and SMU’s Ford Stadium before the game, and eight buses will transport fans back to the parking lot after the game.

Carroll school officials said Dragon fans can park at or near the Mockingbird station and ride this free shuttle beginning at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Gates at Ford Stadium open at 4:30 p.m. Kickoff is at 6 p.m. Shuttles will continue running to and from the stadium up until an hour after the game. This service, provided by Buses by Bill, is the same service utilized for SMU Mustang games.

“We’re pleased to be able to arrange this service for fans attending the Clash of Champions game,” said Superintendent David J. Faltys. “We ask for patience as the shuttles move to and from the site. It ought to be a great game and a memorable event for everyone involved.”

Officials from the shuttle service said an on-site supervisor will ensure safe loading and unloading during the operation. Passengers can load at the north end of the parking lot near Twin Sixties Street. They will actually be dropped off at SMU’s Moody Coliseum, which is just a few yards from Ford Stadium. The service is a joint operation of Paragon Marketing, host of the event, and Carroll Independent School District.

CISD officials say they have grown accustomed to large crowds at Dragon games. The shuttle service was added in an attempt to make this event a positive experience for everyone involved. Some of the 57-passenger shuttles are ADA compliant, although SMU also has handicap parking spaces available up closer to the entrance.

Saturday's Showdown To Be Broadcast On KKGM Radio, Web

Metro Sports Communications will carry the live radio broadcast of Saturday’s Southlake Carroll-Miami Northwestern game on KKGM 1630-AM.

Due to a conflict with the Oklahoma-Utah State game, which also airs on KKGM (2:30 p.m. kickoff), the Carroll-Northwestern pre-game show will begin shortly before 6 p.m., instead of the normal 30 minutes prior to kickoff. The game will be heard in its entirety.

The game will also be heard worldwide through KKGM’s website at www.kkgmam.com.

Important Note: Inside the Stadium

There will also be a supplementary “Road Radio” broadcast for those listening inside SMU's Gerald J. Ford stadium. The “Road Radio” frequency is 88.9 FM.

Lady Dragon Volleyball Plays For The Cure

For the past few years, Lady Dragon volleyball players have supported breast cancer research by raising money through their "Pink Out" game. This year, the Lady Dragons have taken their fundraising efforts a step further.

One of the team's very own coaches is battling the disease with grace and courage, and is facing this challenge. As young women athletes, the Lady Dragon volleyball team has decided to seek out friends, family and community members to sponsor every game that they win during their district season (September 7 - October 23) or to sponsor the season. All of the monies raised will be donated to Komen Tarrant County, the local affiliate for Susan G. Koman for the Cure.

The Lady Dragons are dedicated to a winning season and to a season that will allow the team to help make a difference in breast cancer research. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor or would like more information, please contact Lady Dragon volleyball player Amy Moan, #5, at 817-421-2775 or by E-mail at Amiz1904@aol.com.

Cotten is employed with AP Strategies as their Science Coordinator. At AP Strategies, he supports AP and Pre AP biology teachers and students in any way possible with the single goal of raising the number of students taking and passing the AP Biology exams in Texas. -What are AP and Pre AP all about?
-How do AP and Pre AP relate to college admissions and success in college?
-Am I taking too many AP classes at once?
-How can I better prepare for AP exams?
-How can I raise my AP scores?
