Johnson Students Jump Rope For Worthy Cause

Johnson Elementary students have been jumping their way to raising more than $25,000 for the American Heart Association. All kindergarten through fourth graders at JES participate each year in Jump Rope For Heart. This year's event involved 650 students.

Parents were invited to attend during their child's physical education classes February 28-March 2. The students jumped rope, showed off new skills and jumped in groups. Some brave parents even joined in the jumping.

JES was the top fundraising school in Tarrant County and, according to the American Heart Association, the campus could come in first place again this year with their donation of $25,809.36. JES students dedicated their jumping to 2003 Carroll graduate Jake Benoist. Jake has experienced several heart attacks and now has an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). He is currently a student at Sam Houston State University.
