It's A Three-Peat For Dragon Football Team

The billboards along Interstate-35 reminded motorists of the Dragon tradition as many traveled to the Class 5A State Championship games held December 23 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

The team clenched its third consecutive State title by defeating Austin Westlake 43-29. This victory makes the fourth championship in five years for the Dragons. The team tops several prestigious polls across the nation, and quarterback Riley Dodge was named the MaxPreps 2006 National Player of the Year. Constitutional Convention Reconvenes At DMS

The Constitutional Convention recently came to life for Dawson Middle School eighth graders. The students debated and gave speeches as the Founding Fathers, and each was assigned a role to research and portray. Students were given information about the positions that each leader represented at the Convention, but the eighth graders had to write their own speeches and attempt to persuade the other representatives to change or support their point of view.

The middle schoolers discovered that debate could be frustrating, and that voting doesn't always go their way. However, the Founding Fathers would have been proud of their efforts as the classes of Carolyn Pruitt, Helene Kilianski and Nancy Anthony dressed as their delegate and participated in writing their own Constitutions.
