Superintendent David Faltys

David Faltys has served as the Superintendent of the Carroll ISD since January of 2006, quickly gaining the admiration, trust and respect of the entire community.  He is a former classroom teacher, high school principal and assistant superintendent in Navasota, and is a graduate of Texas A&M University where he earned his doctorate degree.

Under Dr. Faltys' leadership, the Carroll School district has earned the state’s highest rating of “Exemplary,” passed the largest School Bond Election in district history ($138 million) and reorganized central office to create a Student Services Division to improve customer service. During his tenure the district also established True To The Core, a multi-faceted community awareness campaign in support of the district's Core Values, Vision, Mission and Goals and implemented Rachel's Challenge to promote kindness and compassion and help address the problem of adolescent and teen bullying.

During the 2008-2009 school year Dr. Faltys was asked to join other prestigious superintendents across the state in participating in the Public Education Visioning Institute. The work of this group is serving as guide for educational reform to ensure Texas public schools prepare students for success in the digital age.

Working as a team of eight, Dr. Faltys and the Carroll School Board have helped improve employee morale, rejuvenated the district's financial reserves and advanced technology districtwide. Continuing to be a voice for children in Texas public schools, they also adopted the 2009 Legislative Platform calling for more academic accountability, school finance reform and local control. During their tenure, Carroll secured $4.5 million plus royalties as part of a mineral rights agreement, approved the district's first Mandarin Chinese program, lowered the local tax rate five cents, refinanced bonds to save taxpayers $1.5 million and earned an upgrade in the district's bond rating from both bond rating agencies. In 2009, Carroll ISD was named the Corporate Business of the Year by the Southlake Area Chamber of Commerce.

As a result of his leadership and oversight, the Carroll School Board recently extended the Superintendent's Contract through 2014. In December 2008 they took steps to retain him in Carroll ISD by amending his contract to include a $5,000 monthly housing allowance.

In addition to leading CISD, David is actively involved in a number of community and civic organizations and presents on education-related issues at state and national conferences. He resides in CISD with his wife, Jennifer, and their four children: Dave, Peyton, Kenton and Lauren. They thoroughly enjoy attending CISD and community events – especially those that involve Carroll Dragons.
