Dragon 2010 Football Tickets To Be Sold Online

In addition to the Dragon Stadium addition and new video scoreboard, Dragon football games will have an added feature this year.  Online ticketing has arrived for Carroll ISD.  Beginning Monday, Aug. 30 at 8 a.m., Dragon fans can go online to the CISD Athletics webpage from anywhere there is an internet connection select, purchase and print their game tickets for the first home game football game on Sept. 10 against Richardson Berkner.

Also beginning this year, there will be two new sections of reserved seating.  Reserved seats in sections B and F tickets will be sold online, in the CISD Athletic Office at Dragon Stadium and at the gate on game night.  There are 500 seats in each section. Fans may purchase up to ten reserved seats at a time.  Section B and F reserved seats will only be sold online during the week and at the gate beginning at 6:00pm on game nights.  During the week, reserved bench seats will be $7.00 and at the gate on game nights they will be sold for $9.00.

Sections A and G are the new additions to Dragon Stadium and will be sold as general admission seats. There are 800 seats in each section of A and G. General admission tickets will be sold during the week for $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for students. All general admission tickets sold at the gate on game night will be $8.00. In addition to being sold online during the week, general admission tickets will be sold at Carroll High School, Carroll Senior High School and the CISD Athletic Office.

Ticket sales at the campuses will be from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Athletic Office will be open 8 a.m to 12 p.m. and 1-4 Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on home-game Fridays. Tickets sold at the campuses and the athletic office will only be sold for that week's home game. Online tickets will be sold up to one hour prior to kickoff on Fridays.

All tickets purchased online will have a $.75 convenience fee for each ticket added to the final total.

Students Can Now Apply For New Dragon Internship Program

Junior and Senior students interested in a year-round internship working with the Communications & Marketing Department and the Athletic Department of Carroll ISD may now apply for the 2010-2011 school year as part of a new Dragon internship program. Carroll Athletic Director Kevin Ozee said the program is modeled after a Sports Information program he started for students in Duncanville. Because so many projects are jointly organized with the Communications & Marketing Department, the Dragon internships will involve work in both areas here in CISD.

"This is an opportunity for some of our talented and hard-working Dragon students to get writing, photography, video and event management experience at sports and special events in our district," Ozee said. "For now it is a program to help the students gain experience for the college and work resumes. In the future, we hope to work with our Teaching and Learning Services Department and our campus principals to offer class credit for the internship."

Carroll announced this past fall that a Sports Information and Entertainment marketing class will be offered for Dragon students in 2010. School officials are hoping the freshmen and sophomores who complete this course will consider applying for internship spots as upperclassmen.

"We have numerous opportunities and projects for students interested in journalism, sports information, communications and marketing," said Julie Thannum, Executive Director of Communications & Marketing for Carroll. "We had this internship project as part of our three-year plan and were fortunate that Kevin Ozee has experience in running a program like this. He was very willing to partner with us to create a program that not only provides assistance to our two departments on major projects and daily operations, but also gives our students real-world opportunities to develop their skills and interests in these areas."
Students can visit the CISD website under the Departments drop down menu to find the application and materials for the internship. They are available from both the Athletics and the Communications & Marketing Department links.

Students may apply at anytime throughout the year, but initial spots will be interviewed and filled by September 15. Officials have not yet determined exactly how many interns will be selected from among the first-year applicants, but the program is not limited to August applicants.

"We will have opportunities all year long for students who are interested in interning with our departments," said Kevin Ozee. "But to get us started, we want to spread the word and see what interest there is among our juniors and seniors right away. Julie and I would be pleased to get several interns interviewed and selected to help with sports information and marketing-related projects for the 2010 Dragon football season. Beyond that, the opportunities for gaining internship experience are numerous."
